Summary

Are you looking for a rewarding and meaningful career in complex care? Do you have the skills and compassion to support a gentleman with epilepsy and learning disabilities? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Complex Care Support Worker.

About the role

As a Complex Care Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to a 58 year old gentleman living with his family in Marchamley. They live in a lovely rural location and are very proud of their home and lifestyle that they live. Our client enjoys spending time at home in his garden gazebo, especially in the nice weather and when he’s not here, you can find him at the local truck stop looking at all the trucks that stop by. He enjoys going for car rides, viewing local scenery and peaceful activities including reminiscing through photo albums of him and his family, as well as playing various card games, like snap.

He also has limited verbal communication, lives with Epilepsy and experiences tonic clonic seizures occasionally (this means that he will need support from you to administer rescue medication at the first sign of a seizure, to help bring him out of it nice and quickly) and can at times become stressed and anxious with change and new people. It is really important that you are able to adapt to his variable needs, and offer reassurance to help settle him throughout the day and night.

You will work with a friendly and supportive team of professionals who will help you develop your skills and knowledge in complex care. You will also have the opportunity to build a trusting and respectful relationship with the gentleman and his family, who are very hands-on and helpful. You will support him with activities in and outside of the home, depending on his condition and preferences.

A Registered Nurse will support competency assessment and ongoing supervision.

Excellent rates of pay: Waking Nights- £14.00 per hour

Shifts

• You will work a rolling roster of waking nights (to be discussed upon interview) shifts are 22.00pm-07.00am and you will be supported by an additional member of staff who will be on the ‘sleep in’ shift.

Skills and Qualifications required for the role

• To be successful in this role, you will need to be kind, caring, and patient. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a flexible and positive attitude. You will need to have good attention to detail and observation skills, and be able to recognise when the gentleman is in pain or needs assistance. You will need to have some experience in supporting individuals with complex care needs, or be willing to undergo training and supervision.
