Summary

Are you looking for a rewarding and meaningful career in complex care? Do you have the skills and compassion to support a gentleman with a neurodegenerative disorder and other health conditions? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Complex Care Support Worker.

About the role

As a Complex Care Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to a 52-year-old gentleman who lives with his family in Whittington, Oswestry. He is a retired furniture retailer who enjoys watching films, especially action movies, and having interesting conversations. However, he also needs assistance with his personal care, medication, PEG feed, oxygen therapy, and other medical equipment. He is nursed in bed and requires a full hoist for all transfers. He also lives with chronic pain, Barrett’s syndrome, type 2 respiratory failure, type 2 diabetes, and scoliosis of the spine.

You will work with a friendly and supportive team of professionals who will help you develop your skills and knowledge in complex care. You will also have the opportunity to build a trusting and respectful relationship with the gentleman and his family, who are very hands-on and helpful. You will support him with activities in and outside of the home, depending on his condition and preferences.

A Registered Nurse will support competency assessment and ongoing supervision.

Excellent rates of pay: -Weekday- £13.50 per hour; Weekend day- £13.80ph; Wake nights- £14.50ph

Skills and Qualifications required for the role

To be successful in this role, you will need to be kind, caring, and patient. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a flexible and positive attitude. You will need to have good attention to detail and observation skills, and be able to recognise when the gentleman is in pain or needs assistance. You will need to have some experience in supporting individuals with complex care needs, or be willing to undergo training and supervision.

You will also need to work every other weekend as part of your rota..
