An exciting opportunity to develop your professional career are on offer with Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) in Hillingdon.

We are inviting highly motivated and innovative NMC qualified nurses, to apply for a training contract that offers the opportunity to complete a level 7 (Masters Degree) in Public Health Practice. You will gain a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Qualification in Health Visiting.

This is run as a joint programme with Brunel University and the course is split between clinical practice and University and commences in September 2024.

Applicants must be Registered Nurses or Midwives with a current NMC registration and have an interest in addressing the health needs of children and families. The course is at Level 7 (Masters Degree) see person specification for application requirements. Applicants must also be holders of a valid driving licence and have access and use of a car for the duration of the training.

You will be given a fixed term one-year full-time contract to undertake a PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course (Health Visiting) at Brunel University. Sponsorship will be paid at agenda for change band 5 .

It is a full calendar year and it consists of 50% academic study and 50% in practice (Start dates to be confirmed by the University). The practice placements will be situated across Hillingdon Borough.

The fundamental responsibilities of the post holder are to attain the academic credentials and the clinical skills required to practice as a NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse. The following summarises core responsibilities, but is not an exhaustive list
• Fulfil the requirements of the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programme by attending university course dates and practice placement days in accordance with University regulations and successful completion of the course
• With the support of the Practice Assessor & Practice Supervisor, to link the theoretical knowledge gained through the university programme to the practice situation
• To demonstrate an understanding of current and emerging national, regional and local healthcare legislation, policies and guidelines as they pertain to chosen pathway
• To develop/build on skills of individual caseload management and leadership/management skills within a team, taking into consideration the abilities of skill mix
• To work within University regulations pertaining to academic work and student conduct
• To work within employing organisation policies as they pertain to the relevant clinical setting
• To work within employing organisation policies relating to employee responsibilities.
• To proactively seek for learning opportunities and be creative adaptable and innovative in response to complex and challenging situations
