Summary

Academic Appointments, in partnership with a South Leeds alternative provision unit, are looking for talented, creative, and enthusiastic individuals to be positive role models for students who have been excluded from Mainstream school settings.
Our SEMH Teaching Assistants are given an opportunity to make a positive impact on some of the most at-risk children in the area and to provide support for these children to progress to the next stages of their education.

Who are we looking for?

A successful candidate would:

Have experience in an educational setting either in mainstream schools or any other alternative provision.
A history of working with students with challenging behaviour.
A confident, caring, and assertive personality
What to expect?

Working in these settings requires patience, confidence, and a caring attitude as many of these students have difficult social, emotional, and mental health issues which need to be managed.
Many of the students will have difficulties in displaying these emotions in a productive way so the use of Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies will need to be used often.
Many of these children have low self-esteem and will require positive re enforcement from you when they display good behaviours.

What we need from you:

To be currently available for full time employment.
2x references.
A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate on the update service
Team teach Positive behaviour management certificate required.

Rate of pay is dependent on current grade, experience and payroll method
