Summary


To be responsible for the strategic development, delivery and evaluation of postgraduate nurse education programmes to support the implementation of the Trust nursing strategy, Trust objectives, national and local service development needs. The Post holder will alsobe accountable as the course director for the postgraduate portfolio of courses, to monitor the policy and governance arrangements with our HEIs

To be accountable as the lead for postgraduate nurse education and provide educational input, on-site support and developmental activities for nursing staff at the Trust as well as manage the postgraduate taught course provision, including the teaching and assessing faculty, consolidating innovations and courses to ensure the high-quality delivery of postgraduate education.

To provide sound clinical and education leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice throughout the Trust.

To build and maintain partnerships with Higher Education institutions to support the delivery of postgraduate education.

Develop, co-ordinate and evaluate postgraduate education programmes with providers.

Support and supervise MSc student dissertation work.

To take responsibility for the overall management of the portfolio of courses (Postgraduate certificates and MSc).

In collaboration with teaching faculty develop tools for the assessment of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of postgraduate students that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing care delivery and competence.

Manage specified education programmes, including design, delivery and evaluation of their quality which supports the nursing strategy. This may include the exploration and subsequent introduction of new accredited courses.

Co-ordinate and provide on-site support and educational input and developmental activities for staff including advanced practice

Develop postgraduate faculty within HLCC across sites to enable the delivery of programmes

Influence strategic developments in relation to postgraduate nurse education

Communicate with the College of Health care and partner HEIs over postgraduate education issues

Provide on-going support structures, developmental activities and supervision to maintain an effective and up-to date teaching and assessing faculty.

The post holder will be expected to maintain key working relationships with the Director of Nursing, Deputy Directors of Nursing, Heads of Nursing, Senior Matrons, Directorate General Managers, Service Managers, Clinical Directors, Lead Clinicians, Human Resource Managers, Finance Managers, Ward Sisters, Charge Nurses, Practice Educators/Facilitators, Clinical Nurse Specialists/Practitioners, Practice Development Nurses.
