Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dermatology nurse to join our friendly and driven Paediatric Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist Team which is part of the internationally renowned St. John’s Institute of Dermatology.

We are looking for a dynamic and committed nurse, who has a strong background in Dermatology is flexible, ambitious, and proactive and has the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries.

Currently we see patients with eczema and other inflammatory skin diseases
• skin infections
• vascular malformations (collections of abnormal blood vessels) and birthmarks
• hair and nail disorders
• children's vulval skin disorders
• vitiligo (white patches on the skin)
• Rare skin conditions, including autoimmune blistering diseases, ichthyosis (thickened, dry and scaly skin) and ectodermal dysplasia (abnormal development of the skin, hair, nails, teeth or sweat glands).

The Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist team run various clinics throughout the week seeing patients with Severe Eczema, General dermatology patients and patients on systemic and medication.

The successful candidate is expected to clinically lead on nursing care along the patient pathway and work closely with the multidisciplinary team.

Once competent, the Deputy Clinical Nurse Specialist will work autonomously managing their own nurse led clinics, which comprise of completing treatment plans, monitoring patients on systemic and biological therapies.

You will be required to act as a role model providing clinical supervision, teaching and mentoring to junior colleagues and peers.

There is an anticipation that you actively seek involvement in quality and improvement initiatives and undertake clinical audits with a view to being involved in research.

The post holder will act as a lead specialist and will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service, providing specialist advice, education and support to health care professionals and patients working along side clinical Nurse specialist and consultants. The post holder will actively undertake, nurse led clinics, clinical audits and teaching and education within the specialist area.

The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the ongoing development of clinical practice, research and standards of care within the service, including development of policies, protocols and guidelines and contribute to service developments in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. Also ensures the safety and well being of services users, and
always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.
