Summary


This is an exciting opportunity to work within the systems support team at Liverpool University Hospital NHS Trust. The team provides support to all staff across all areas of the Hospital.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person who is able to work, learn and actively contribute within a team environment. The ideal candidates must have excellent communication skills and attention to detail and a good approach in dealing with enquiries and resolving problems for customers. The successful candidate will have an interest in solving problems, with excellent concentration skills.

Working in the digital systems team to support the digital systems in the Trust which includes any new systems which are implemented, ongoing testing and maintenance. The post holder will support users in the organisation and is a key liaison relating to any errors, bugs, and ongoing process issues.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring data entered into the systems is complete and accurate and will work with key departments in correcting where needed. They will offer guidance and support to the organisation, and train users where needed.

This will include:
• Ensures data is processed in accordance with policies and procedures
• Investigates enquiries & queries from staff / customers
• Providing assistance and advice as required
• Develops or adapts software, web pages, produces reports
• Deal with hardware and software

• Assist the digital systems team with the implementation of an effective project plan for auditing and monitoring the quality of the Trust’s information systems output and correcting errors and inconsistencies.
• Assist with the expansion of system functionality, e.g. Creating menus, access parameters, filters and reports, ensuring that users are able to maximise benefits from effective system utilisation.
• Support regular and robust progress monitoring and reporting systems which ensure that the relevant boards and groups, senior managers and clinical leads are fully informed of performance against the agreed data quality implementation plan.
• Provide support in validating data entered onto the digital systems in the Trust to ensure that the quality and timeliness of the recorded information is appropriate and in line with standards identified by local and national initiatives, data definitions and data standards e.g. Caldicott, Information Security and Information and Clinical Governance.
• Assist the digital Systems team in ensuring that key data set items, which contribute to performance, clinical and data quality indicators, are regularly monitored and conform to the required accuracy standards and definitions.
• Assist with the implementation of projects in the Trust, and the implementation of a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.
• Support process analysis and improvement projects, focusing on particular problem areas (e.g. NHS number, NSTS service, ethnicity coding, unknown GP, GP codes, etc.)
• Take an active role in raising awareness and sharing good practice to impress upon others the need for accurate and timely data collection, audit of data and continuous monitoring. This will incorporate explaining the benefits realised; including improved efficiency, reduction in unnecessary administrative tasks and opportunities for increased management control and planning supported by credible, robust data.
• Assist the digital systems team in extracting relevant information from appropriate sources, analysing and presenting data and in making practical recommendations for change. This will include identifying variations, sampling, reconciliation exercises and assessment of completeness and validity of data.
• Assist in identifying data collection and process issues in relation to the various digital systems and departments and work with colleagues to improve and correct the problems, identifying wider training needs, where appropriate and designing and delivering the required training.
• Provide systems support and advice to users when requested, including analysis problems plus suggesting and progressing solutions.
• Assist with the testing and development of system software, ensuring conformance to agreed operational procedures.
• Support IT Training Team when required, by delivering training and support to users across the Trust in relation to the Trusts digital systems. Training and support will be delivered in the form of one to one sessions, ad hoc / tailored sessions, presentations to larger groups and in a formal classroom setting.
• Liaise closely with the Business Intelligence (BI) department, sharing knowledge relating to data and information issues identified in digital systems and working with information colleagues to resolve these issues.
• Participate in updating and maintaining all relevant operational policies and procedures documentation and ensure that it is available and accessed via the Trust’s Intranet service.
• Assist the EPR Support Manager in visiting wards and departments on all Trust sites, fulfilling a key liaison and facilitation role with users, clinicians and managers, ensuing that staff adhere to corporate policies relating to system procedures, data quality and integrity and the timely collection of data.
• Foster a positive approach to change management and offer ongoing support and ‘handholding’ to staff involved in improvement work.
• The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all clinical and non-clinical staff have appropriate access to all required systems.
• The Post holder will assist the ongoing maintenance and improvement of all current systems and any new clinical systems as required.
• The post holder will be responsible for regularly reviewing calls logged by users and key stakeholders relating to all current systems, ensuring that calls are investigated and resolved in a timely manner, seeking advice and support where required.
• The post holder will be a member of a multi-disciplined digital system support team. Responsible for minimal supervision for providing overall support of all systems, supporting users across the Trust.
• The post holder will be required to support and train other staff members within the systems support team, to ensure cross cover in the department and ensure that there is an awareness of all systems used within the Trust.
• The post holder will forge relationships with users to maximise user input to the ongoing service delivery development and any arising issues.
• The post holder will be responsible for validating all data held in the system, and take remedial action to rectify this, which will include liaising with staff within and outside of the organisation to identify and fix the issue at source.
• The post holder will be part of the digital system support team and will be required to work on other applications within the Trust. This will require the post holder to expand their knowledge to support the applications and support the team where needed.
• The post holder will have input into the delivery of future project plans as required by the head of digital systems.
• The post holder will provide support in the implementation of information processes which will continually improve the level and accuracy of key data set items within administrative and clinical systems.
• The post holder will be required to assist with data migration preparation in readiness for future system upgrades and implementation.
