We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for a 25 year old young man. The purpose of your role will be to enable his independence, support to have time away from his family taking part in activities he enjoys. You will mostly support out in the community.

He is friendly young man and would benefit from his support worker being proactive and encouraging as he can have days where he doesn’t want to do anything, you should also be confident and outgoing.

You will support with going out to cafes, on walks and if you are a car driver with your own transport he loves to go out on drives. You will also support on public transport where required. This young man loves radio and will spend lots of time listening to and talking about the radio and he also has his favourite presenters. Each day will be different depending on what he wants to do on that day so you should be prepared to be flexible.

We would also like our PA to be able to suggest things to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in.

We would prefer you to be a car driver with your own transport however this isn’t essential as public transport can be used.

Expenses will be met by your employer.

Hours - 8 hours per week to be worked weekdays and/or weekends. Hours will be discussed further at interview.

MAIN DUTIES· Support with enabling independence· Assist with taking part in activities and to pursue hobbies and interests· Ensure safety when out and about
Rate of pay
£13.09 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata

Person Specification

Successful applicant must:· Ideally have experience working as a support worker with children or adults· Have a positive understanding towards people with disabilities· Have a genuine interest in working within social care· Have a high degree of initiative· Be punctual and reliable· Be flexible· Have a happy, positive and caring nature.· Respect confidentiality.

Car driver preferable and must have business insurance.
An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
