Summary

Education Support Assistant for a young girl P/T@ £13.09/hr in Morpeth - FTE - £25.5k

Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: 66b65d94

1:1 Support assistant required for an 11 year old girl diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and separation anxiety disorder.

This post will be based in Morpeth, initially at the home of the child. With an outside of school custom learning plan in place for this child, the emphasis will be on practical daily living via coaching and guidance, focusing on experiences rather than just academic tasks.

This young girl enjoys playing games like Roblox or Minecraft, going trampolining and swimming, the usual fun things that children like. It is hoped visiting shops and the local cafe can be enjoyed with the support worker once a rapport is established. The aim is to boost her confidence and self-esteem.

We are looking for someone who is quiet and gently spoken and preferably a non-smoker due to the child’s sensory issues. The successful candidate must have experience of working with children who have special needs.

It would be advantageous if the support assistant has experience of challenging behaviour but it is imperative that they are able to respond to individual needs in an appropriate manner.

An awareness of sensory processing is essential. Training for this can be arranged via signposting.

We are flexible in the 10 hours that need to be fulfilled but would express a preference for afternoons that may be split into 2/3 sessions. If you feel you would enjoy making a positive difference to this child and her family please apply.

Rate of Pay: £13.09 per hour

Hours Breakdown: 10 Hours per week x 38 weeks a year (Term-Time Only - Flexible afternoons)
