We are currently looking to recruit two Support Workers working 2:1 to provide support for a 9 year old girl. The purpose of your role will be to enable independence and support to take part in activities she enjoys. You will mostly support out in the community but there will be some instances where you support at home or as part of a family trip out.

There will also be some personal care as and when needed including changing nappies. This young lady has a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD and Rett Syndrome among others. She is also non-verbal and although she does have her own ways of communicating this will come with spending time with her and building up a relationship.

You should be patient and looking for a long-term role. She is also a manual wheelchair user so you should have good general fitness and be willing to push her wheelchair and be prepared to support with putting the wheelchair in and out of a car when needed. You must be a driver and be happy to drive a motability vehicle.

You will ideally have experience of supporting young adults or children with neurological diagnoses. We are looking for someone who is confident and outgoing and comfortable dealing with at times challenging behaviour. You will support with her interests and hobbies, such as playing with sensory toys, she loves people, enjoys going out and is happy when engaged in activities she enjoys.

A couple of her favourite activities are being out in the car or doing crafts. Each day will be different depending on what she wants to do on that day so you should be prepared to be flexible.

We would also like our support workers to be able to suggest things to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in.

Hours - 4 hours per week to be worked alongside another support worker, weekdays and/or weekends.

Hours will be discussed further at interview.
