Luma Education Recruitment is working in partnership with an impressive and well-established SEMH school in Peterborough to recruit a passionate and resilient Science Teacher.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly supportive specialist setting that is committed to transforming outcomes for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers excellent long-term career prospects, a strong leadership team, and a genuine commitment to staff development and wellbeing.
We are arranging interviews and school visits immediately, with opportunities available for both an immediate start and September starts.
Both supply and permanent applicants will be considered.
The Role
As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons to secondary-aged pupils, many of whom have additional needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and associated learning barriers.
You will be joining a dedicated team focused on helping young people re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
Build positive relationships with pupils and promote engagement
Support students' social, emotional, and academic development
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
Work collaboratively with pastoral, SEND, and leadership teams
Monitor progress and contribute to individual learning plans
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) preferred
ECTs and experienced teachers welcome to apply
Experience teaching Science in a secondary or specialist setting
Knowledge of SEMH, SEND, Autism, ADHD, or Alternative Provision is advantageous
Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
