Summary

About the Role

Ashbourne Day Nursery is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Manager to lead and inspire the team at our Barking setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery while ensuring the highest standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and compliance are maintained.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 0–5 years.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day management and operation of the nursery.
Lead, motivate, and support the nursery team to deliver outstanding childcare and education.
Ensure full compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, health and safety, and Ofsted requirements.
Monitor children's learning and development and ensure high-quality practice throughout the setting.
Conduct supervisions, staff meetings, appraisals, and performance reviews.
Manage staffing levels, rotas, and recruitment requirements.
Build strong relationships with children, parents, carers, and external professionals.
Support staff development and identify training needs.
Ensure the nursery maintains a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
Promote positive behaviour and children's emotional wellbeing.
Work closely with senior management to achieve occupancy and quality targets.

Essential Requirements

Full and relevant Level 3 Childcare qualification (minimum).
Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Third in Charge, Room Leader, or Nursery Manager.
Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and Ofsted requirements.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Experience managing staff and supporting professional development.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (preferred) or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to provide satisfactory references.
Passion for delivering outstanding childcare and supporting children's development.
Desirable
Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management.
Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
Experience with occupancy management and nursery administration.
Experience supporting children with additional needs and SEND.
