Summary

Job Title: Direct Payment Personal Assistant
Location: Bow Street, Aberystwyth
Hours: 5 hours per week
Rate of Pay: £14 per hour

Purpose of the Role
To provide person-centred support that enables the Employer to maintain independence, improve wellbeing, access the community safely, and participate in activities that promote social inclusion and quality of life.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide encouragement and practical support to maintain motivation, reduce social isolation, and build confidence in accessing and participating in the wider community.
• Support the Employer to engage in community life, including attending local groups, activities, events, and opportunities that reflect their interests and personal goals.
• Deliver consistent support with daily living activities to help maintain physical and mental wellbeing and reduce the risk of decline or loss of independence.
• Provide physical assistance with mobility both inside and outside the home, supporting safe access to community settings and participation in everyday activities.
• Support the Employer during shopping, appointments, errands, and other daily tasks as required.
• Assist the Employer to identify, access, and participate in hobbies, interests, and meaningful activities that promote enjoyment and personal development.
• Encourage choice, independence, dignity, and inclusion while respecting the Employer’s preferences and routines.
• Maintain professional boundaries and work in accordance with agreed support plans and instructions provided by the Employer.
• Promote the Employer’s health, safety, and wellbeing at all times and report any concerns appropriately.
• Respect confidentiality and handle personal information sensitively and appropriately.

Essential
• Caring, reliable, and supportive approach
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate assistance
• Ability to support mobility and community access safely
• Respect for confidentiality, dignity, and personal choice
• Flexible and person-centred attitude
Desirable
• Previous experience in care, support work, or community-based roles
• Relevant care or support qualification (if applicable)
• First Aid training
• Full driving licence and access to transport (if required)
General
This role is employed directly by the Employer through a Direct Payment arrangement. Duties may vary according to the Employer’s changing needs and preferences and will always be delivered in a respectful, person-centred manner.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
