** Background
The Estates, Environment & Facilities Directorate is responsible for maintaining a safe, compliant and operational estate across City St George’s, University of London. We are seeking a Head of Maintenance to lead maintenance operations at the Tooting campus, a complex healthcare, teaching and research environment. The role will oversee outsourced hard facilities management services, statutory compliance, maintenance delivery and contractor performance, ensuring the estate supports the needs of students, staff and stakeholders.
** Responsibilities
You will lead the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services across the Tooting campus, managing outsourced contractors, maintenance budgets and statutory compliance activities. The role is responsible for ensuring building services remain safe, compliant and operational, monitoring contractor performance, supporting business continuity arrangements and providing technical advice on maintenance and engineering matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, service partners and the NHS Trust to support operational excellence.
** Person Specification
The successful candidate will have significant experience managing maintenance services within a complex operational environment. They will possess strong knowledge of statutory compliance, contractor management, health and safety legislation and building services systems. Experience of managing outsourced maintenance contracts and budgets is essential, together with excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills. A relevant technical or professional qualification, or equivalent experience, is required. Experience within healthcare, laboratory or higher education environments would be advantageous.
