Summary
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of core systems across on-premise and cloud environments, helping to enhance the overall digital experience for staff and students.
This role will be required to:
Operate and maintain the University’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, backups, endpoint security, and Microsoft 365 services
Support both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure hosting environments
Resolve technical issues and escalations from the Service Desk and support teams within agreed SLAs
Monitor systems proactively, identifying trends and potential issues to prevent service disruption
Maintain system security through patching, monitoring, and security controls
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
We are looking for candidates with:
Proven experience supporting, maintaining, and operating IT infrastructure environments
Strong working knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
Networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, cloud connectivity)
Infrastructure hosting (virtualisation and cloud platforms such as Azure)
Microsoft 365 and collaboration tooling
IT security, monitoring, and endpoint management solutions
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
The ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
A customer-focused approach
Strong attention to detail
A proactive mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement
A willingness to learn and stay up to date with emerging technologies
