Job Description:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Children’s Support Worker to join a modern residential children’s home in Crediton. As a Children’s Support Worker in Bodmin, you will support young people aged 8–16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours. This Children’s Support Worker role in Crediton is busy, varied and genuinely rewarding—helping young people feel safe, cared for, and supported to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally.
Key Responsibilities:
Support young people in Crediton to take responsibility for their own lives, based on age and needs
Encourage participation in activities and promote independence and wellbeing
Maintain a homely, friendly culture and a safe, supportive environment in Crediton
Manage challenging behaviours safely, sympathetically and in line with care plans
Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
Keep knowledge up to date on individual care plans, guidelines, reward systems and preferred communication methods
Build strong working relationships with staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people’s lives
Requirements:
Full UK Driving Licence (required to transport young people from time to time)
Must be over the age of 21
Able to commute to Crediton
Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or with young people is desirable (not essential)
Experience in another healthcare or social care setting is desirable (not essential)
Resilient, motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
