Summary

Picking dates will be from August 16th until November 8th crop permitting.
1. Fieldwork – You will be placed in a team of approximately 4-6 pickers. You will be Picking apples, pears in the orchards directly from the trees and placing them into a pickers bucket which is worn like a front back pac. When your bucket is full the apples are carefully transferred into an apple bin. This will be located near to where you are picking and will be moved when needed by a designated driver/quality controller.
2. You will be required to use a ladder for the tops of the trees. We expect this to be shared fairly between all team members.
3. We are a top fruit, farm the fruit picked must be to a high standard. Taking care to check all fruit before placing in your bucket. Care must be taken not to bruise the fruit when picking and emptying into the bucket and bin.
We may ask you to do some husbandry jobs i.e. thinning, pruning or general orchard maintenance.
We work in all weather conditions you will be provided suitable PPE but expected to work through all conditions such as cold and rain.
Days when work may be available
5 to 6 days per week, this can be any days of the week, we do not guarantee the same days off every week
Hours worked per day
Normally 8 hours per day, depending on weather and crop conditions. We usually start at 8am. You will be entitled to a paid 20 minute break at 9.30 and an unpaid 30 minute break at 12.00 when working more than 6 hours per day.
