Action Staffing Ltd is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a dedicated and experienced Nursery Officer / Room Leader (DSL Qualified) to join a busy and well-established nursery setting in Hampstead, London. This is a temporary opportunity providing maternity cover and organisational support until 28 August 2026.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring high-quality childcare, promoting children's learning and development, and maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding and welfare.
This role is ideal for an experienced Early Years professional who holds a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) qualification and is passionate about delivering outstanding care and education.
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week
Rotating shift pattern:
07:15am – 03:15pm
09:45am – 05:45pm
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the daily operation of the nursery room.
Deliver high-quality care and education in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and promote a strong safeguarding culture.
Support children's learning, development, and wellbeing through engaging activities and positive interactions.
Monitor and record children's progress and developmental milestones.
Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies.
Support and mentor nursery staff to maintain high standards of practice.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children.
Candidate Requirements
Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years Childcare qualification.
Valid Paediatric First Aid qualification.
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) qualification.
Previous experience working as a Nursery Officer, Room Leader, Senior Nursery Practitioner, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding legislation, and child development.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Ability to work effectively within a busy childcare environment.
Safeguarding & Recruitment Checks
As this role involves working with children, all successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory references, employment checks, and an Enhanced DBS check in line with safer recruitment and safeguarding requirements.
