We are seeking a Catering Assistant to join our team within a Primary or Secondary School.

The Catering Assistant plays an important role in supporting the preparation and service of nutritious school meals while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming dining environment.​

Working as part of the kitchen team, you will assist with food preparation, meal service, cleaning duties, and dining hall set-up, ensuring a positive experience for pupils and staff.

The Role

Carrying out basic food preparation and cooking duties as directed by the Cook or Catering Manager

Setting up and clearing dining areas, including tables, chairs, cutlery, and service stations

Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, dining areas, and food service equipment

Washing dishes, utensils, and catering equipment and ensuring items are stored correctly

Monitoring and recording food storage and service temperatures in accordance with food safety procedures

Ensuring food is stored, handled, and served safely and at the correct temperatures

Working effectively as part of the catering team and providing excellent customer service to pupils, staff, and visitors

About You

Enthusiastic and positive approach to work

Catering experience is preferred, but a positive, can-do attitude is essential

Good understanding of the principles of food hygiene

Able to follow instructions, while also using initiative to make appropriate decisions in the best interests of the customer

Customer-focused, ensuring every customer has an excellent experience

A determined team player who works well with others
