We are seeking a Cleaning Operative to join our team at a busy Rail Depot.

This role is responsible for delivering industrial cleaning services within a rail maintenance environment, ensuring that walkways, pits, and associated facilities are maintained to a high standard.​

You will work as part of a team supporting the safe and efficient operation of the depot, carrying out cleaning tasks in line with site procedures, health and safety requirements, and customer expectations.

The Role

Carrying out industrial cleaning duties across rail maintenance buildings, including walkways, pits, and associated site facilities.

Operating cleaning equipment, including pedestrian scrubber dryers and pressure washing equipment, following training and certification.

Completing pit cleaning and pressure washing activities in compliance with local site safety and isolation procedures.

Using the correct cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and chemicals to deliver high standards of cleanliness.

Ensuring all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored correctly after use.

Reporting faulty, damaged, or unsafe equipment to the Depot Facilities Supervisor.

Responding appropriately to emergency situations and reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses in accordance with site procedures.

Working in compliance with all health and safety, personal hygiene, and site-specific requirements, including attendance at mandatory training and inductions.

About You

Previous cleaning experience, ideally within an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or rail environment.

Strong awareness of health and safety procedures and safe working practices.

Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Experience using industrial cleaning equipment would be advantageous.

Reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining high standards.

Good communication skills and a professional approach to customer and colleague interactions.

Willingness to undertake training and develop new skills.

Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and carry out manual cleaning tasks.
