Summary
Account Manager – UK Grocery
Location: North London (Hybrid / Desk-based)
Salary: Up to £45,000+ Bonus
The Opportunity
Are you a commercially sharp Account Manager with a genuine love for Asian cuisine and culture?
My client is a leading Asian Food Import & Distribution business, bringing authentic, high-quality products to the UK and European markets. They are looking for a Key Account Manager to champion their UK Grocery accounts.
This is a unique commercial role. While you’ll be driving growth with UK Grocery customers, you will also be the bridge to our rich heritage. Whether you speak an Asian language (such as Japanese) or have fallen in love with the culture and cuisine through travelling or living abroad, your cultural curiosity is just as important to us as your sales spreadsheets.
Why This Role is Different
• The Best of Both Worlds: This is a hybrid role offering the flexibility of working from home and their head office.
• No Road-Warrior Burnout: Unlike traditional retail AM roles, there are only limited external client visits required. You will manage and grow your accounts from the comfort of your desk and home setup.
• A Cultural Fusion: You will get to embrace unique, respectful ways of working while serving fast-paced UK customers—perfect for an entrepreneurial mind who thrives outside of rigid corporate boxes.
What You’ll Do
As an Account Manager, you will own the commercial relationships with your UK Grocery partners, driving profitable revenue growth. Your day-to-day will involve:
• Relationship Management: Leading and growing partnerships via phone, video, and email.
• Joint Business Plans (JBPs): Delivering on revenue, margin, distribution, and rate-of-sale targets.
• Commercial Strategy: Driving range expansions, executing promotional activities, and leading new product development (NPD) sell-ins.
• Data-Driven Insights: Leveraging data to spot market trends, identify issues, and unlock new opportunities.
• Internal Collaboration: Acting as the "voice of the customer" internally to ensure seamless stock delivery and alignment.
Your Skills & Experience
They are looking for a proactive, adaptable professional who brings a mix of commercial grit and cultural appreciation.
• The Experience: 3+ years of experience in account management within FMCG/Food
• The Commercial Mindset: Proven negotiation skills with a track record of driving profitable margin and revenue growth.
• The Cultural Fit: You either speak an Asian language (Japanese is a major plus!) or possess a deep passion for Asian food and culture—perhaps you've travelled extensively or lived in the region and love the cuisine.
• The Mindset: Respectful, collaborative, and highly organised. You are comfortable with a "can-do" approach in an entrepreneurial environment where everything isn't always rigidly structured.
Ready to Apply?
If you are looking for a commercial role where your passion for food and culture is truly valued, I want to hear from you.
