Summary
Job Description
We are a high-quality joinery and manufacturing workshop looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating our flat-bed nesting CNC router, processing sheet goods, and producing precise components for cabinetry, bespoke joinery, and fit-outs. You will work closely with our design and assembly teams to ensure material optimization, accuracy, and minimal waste.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation: Set up, load, and safely operate a flat-bed nesting CNC router.
Material Management: Select, inspect, and load sheet goods (MDF, ply, MFC, solid surface) onto the bed, ensuring correct tooling and vacuum hold-down setup.
Quality Control: Monitor machining runs, check component tolerances against drawings, and ensure a high-quality edge finish.
Workflow Coordination: Efficiently sort, label, and organize nested parts for the assembly.
Maintenance: Perform daily machine maintenance, tool changes, bed skim-runs, and keep the CNC area clean and safe.
Skills & Experience Required
CNC Experience: Proven experience operating a CNC router within a woodworking, joinery, or shopfitting environment (flat-bed/nesting experience is highly advantageous).
Drawing Interpretation: Ability to confidently read and interpret manufacturing drawings and cutting lists.
Material Knowledge: A strong understanding of various timber products, sheet materials, and how they behave during machining.
Software Familiarity: Experience using or navigating CAD/CAM interfaces (e.g., VCarve or nesting software) is a major plus, though training on our specific system can be provided.
Attributes: High attention to detail, a proactive attitude toward workshop safety, and the ability to work independently.
What We Offer
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
Standard working hours: [e.g., Monday to Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Friday 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM].
Overtime opportunities during peak periods.
A clean, well-equipped, and modern workshop environment.
Workplace pension and holiday entitlement.
How to Apply
If you have the machining experience and a sharp eye for detail, we’d love to hear from you.
Please send your CV or a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience to (William.mcgrath@therocketgroup.co.uk] or call [0141 375 2418] for an informal chat.
No recruitment agencies, please.
