Summary

Your Role

Join our award-winning team
We’re seeking Residential Care Workers to join our inspiring team supporting our students (aged 9-25) to develop their independent living skills, whilst supporting their education. The role will be in either our new adult residential centre, or part of our on-site residential flats at the academy. Both are based in Exmouth, and are a couple of minutes walk from the beach.

Are you an experienced Residential Care Worker looking for a new challenge? Ready to take the next step in your career and do something truly meaningful?
Or are you curious about working with Deaf young people and learning British Sign Language (BSL)?
Are you passionate about wanting to make a difference to young people’s lives?
Do you want a job that is varied and rewarding, where you’ll also be getting out and about planning and organising social activities locally and further afield?
We’ll provide full training, including British Sign Language (BSL) training and sponsorship to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. If you’re already qualified at Level 3, fantastic. But if your experience comes from education or another support role, that’s valuable too — we’ll help you grow into the role and sponsor you to achieve your diploma.
Every day as a Residential Care Worker is different. You’ll be supporting our young people who live in our Academy Residential Home to develop their independent living skills, as well as organising social activities, for example, activities in the local community, trips to the beach, cinema or bowling, as well as trips further afield. Our students spend their day in our School or College, some also doing work placements or qualifications elsewhere, after which they return to our residential care flats. The shift pattern for this role is therefore outside of 'school hours'.

We are an award-winning organisation and our teams create a positive, stimulating environment to enable our children and young people to thrive. We’re looking for extraordinary people to join us and help shape our future. Working with us is more than just a job. You’ll have access to fantastic benefits and receive invaluable training to develop your career.

Shift Pattern
There are 2 teams that you may be placed in, each team works 42 hours per week, details of which can be discussed further at interview:

2 teams that share a 2-week rota including weekends (working some evenings including sleep-ins, and 1 in every 2 weekends during the term)
a team that work Monday to Friday across morning and afternoon/evening hours.

What we offer
13 weeks of holiday (rare in care roles!)
Weekly staff CPD and development sessions
Work in a large team of supportive Residential Care Workers
Fully funded BSL training and in‑house lessons
A collaborative, inclusive and inspiring culture
Progression opportunities and specialist training
A beautiful coastal location close to the beach
*This position is working during the academy's term time, plus an additional 5 training days. The minimum salary for this role with no sleep-in rate applied is £24,823pa (this would apply to those only working the Mon-Fri shift pattern). The salary including sleep-ins may be up to £28,471pa (this includes payment for the maximum amount of sleep-ins possible for those working on full shift pattern), or £30,646 pa for those at top of the pay scale.

We have a number of roles available to start in September, we will therefore be shortlisting applications on a rolling basis. The Academy may close or amend the advert before the closing date.
