Based at HMP Holme House you’ll work across a defined regional estate (approx. 6 sites), delivering essential gas and mechanical maintenance that keeps prisons safe, compliant and operational. This is a mobile, varied role where no two days are the same – but you’ll always be supported by a well-established contract and a company that genuinely invests in its people.

What you’ll be doing

Tightness testing of commercial gas pipework
Maintaining gas interlocks and mechanical ventilation systems
Working on high-capacity boilers, radiant tube heaters and commercial water heaters
Supporting minor new works, upgrades and commissioning
Ensuring strict compliance with Amey, MoJ and HMPPS safety and security standards
Working safely at all times, living Amey’s Zero Code

You’ll be mainly region-based but may occasionally support other areas or sites if required.

What you’ll bring

Essential

Gas Safe registered with commercial endorsements, including:
CODNCO1

Proven experience maintaining commercial gas plant
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Knowledge of combustion control systems, ventilation interlocks and pressure regulation
Understanding of commercial water systems and Legionella compliance
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work independently and use initiative
NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing

Desirable

Additional gas qualifications (COMCAT, CMET, REGT2 etc.)
Experience in a custodial or highly regulated environment

If you meet most but not all of the criteria, we still encourage you to apply – we can support development and additional training.
