Summary
This is an office based role requiring an individual who has experience, or would like to gain experience, of working in the bookkeeping and accountancy sector. In your role of P/T Bookkeeper you will learn how to record all company spending, including purchases, invoices and sales and provide accurate information on company outgoings.
As a bookkeeper you will be organised, efficient and become skilled at keeping track of various types of spending by the company or our clients. You will be dealing with clients over the phone, potentially in person and on occasion through Zoom or Teams. As you are representing a service organisation, we would expect you to be courteous, well-spoken and present yourself professionally.
Key Responsibilities
With training and support, we would expect you to cover the following duties:
· Provision of excellent customer support managing queries to resolution through investigation, reconciliation or escalation to management where necessary
· Ensure all supplier information is up to date and accurate
· Analyse and reconcile Bank/Credit Card statements with client’s cash books
· Support the accountant to ensure accurate bank reconciliations and accruals
· Enhance and maintain process documentation and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and internal controls
· Training will be provided on inhouse bookkeeping systems and software
Key Skills
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Be confident to speak with clients in person, over the phone or via video calls.
· Attention to detail with a methodical approach to work
· Good IT skills (Word, Excel, MS Outlook)
· Comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines
· Time management to prioritise workload
· Must be able to work independently
Experience and Knowledge
· Ideally the candidate should have some relevant experience of working in a finance department. Be proficient with double entry bookkeeping
Education, Qualifications and Training
· Relevant school grades or HNC/HND Level qualification or equivalent experience.
Additional Requirements
Be able to work with sensitive information. Confidentiality agreement would need to be signed. With this comes the usual expectations and responsibility. Outside any specific agreed core training times, training and development expectations.
