Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Key roles would include, but are not limited to:
• Promote the aims and objectives of the school and maintain its philosophy of education
• Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning
• The ability to communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis
• Liaise with class teachers, SENDCO and other professionals about individual education plans/EHC plans
• Monitor pupils’ responses to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes
• Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
• Support class teachers to design, create and produce learning activities, materials and resources to support aspects of the curriculum or particular learning outcomes, and to assist and support the child in using them
• Establish a supportive, caring and secure relationship with the children, promoting respect, self-esteem and a positive, inclusive whole school ethos
• Working with challenging children (if required) e.g. with complex behavioural needs etc.
• Tracheostomy training required to support medical needs. To be delivered in school via nursing team.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience in working with children with additional needs
• Support the school’s agreed policies and procedures for behaviour and safeguarding
• Show confidence in supporting children in their learning
• Work as part of a team
• Have high expectations of children, colleagues and self
• Be enthusiastic, well-motivated and fully willing to support school life
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and empathy with children
• Be committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning
• Demonstrate high levels of professional standards and conduct
• Show creative flare, plenty of energy and a good sense of humour
• Be flexible
Qualifications to NVQ level 2 or 3 in childcare and educational support will be an advantage but are not essential.
