Summary


The Ward Clerk supports the smooth day-to-day operation of the ward by providing administrative assistance, managing patient information, coordinating appointments, and acting as a key point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.

Liaise with individual team members and other departments as required, in a manner that will contribute to the effective and efficient running of the ward.

Work within our extremely busy SDEC Clinic and DVT clinic to ensure that notes are created and ready for same day patients & ensure that the diary is up to date. You maybe required to call and liaise with patients about attending certain tests or appointments.

To arrange for the repair of faulty ward equipment. To deliver post to patients. Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries in a courteous manner.

To open and sort incoming mail and distribute to relevant personnel for action.

To use the computer for inputting and accessing general patient information on Trust computer systems such as Ecamis, EPR, Agyle, Electronic Diary and Health of the Ward.

To assist with other duties that may reasonably be required. To ensure sufficient stock of paperwork and stationary supplies. Organise own workload to ensure that the priorities of the service need are met.

Liaise with agencies external to the ward e.g. other hospital departments, organising various models of transport, GP Surgeries etc.

Communicate appropriately with all visitors to the ward area e.g. relatives, medical and nursing agencies etc.

Contact by telephone patients and relatives relating to their imminent admission or discharge from the ward.

To report to the Senior Nurse any complaints, comment or request by patients or visitors.

If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
