Summary
Ensure a high standard of care for all patients with a diagnosis of skin cancer, providing a high standard of psychosocial support for the patient and their family/carers during and after any treatment. Act as an effective key worker for all patients and their families, providing advice, support and signposting when necessary. Develop through completion of relevant post grad modules advanced clinical assessment skills in nurse led clinics to autonomously manage patients with a skin cancer diagnosis to ensure that optimum physical and psychological care needs are met. Develop nurse led clinics working in parallel with multidisciplinary team members. Ensure patients holistic needs are taken into consideration in the decision making process utilising the relevant tools and skills Utilise highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Attend weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, and represent the MDT as required at local/regional business meetings and the West Midlands Expert Advisory Group meetings. Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes. Undertake highly specialised technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; complex patient monitoring; equipment management and defined expanded clinical roles.
