Summary


Medical Secretary in Sleep.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical secretary to join a dynamic, busy and pro-active department to provide administrative and secretarial support to our Consultant and Sleep Physiology Teams. The role will involve some patient contact, management of waiting lists and booking appointments, typing minutes and management of administrative tasks.
• Provide full administrative and secretarial support to Sleep Consultants.
• Act as a key liaison between patients, clinicians, departments, and external organisations.Manage consultants’ diaries, appointments, and clinic schedules, including changes and urgent bookings.
• Coordinate patient pathways, ensuring timely appointments, investigations, and follow-ups.Prepare and send clinic letters and correspondence within required timeframes.
• Handle telephone enquiries, triaging calls and responding sensitively and appropriately.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all information systems are up to date.
• Ensure test results and documentation are available before clinics and procedures.
• Monitor waiting lists and patient tracking lists to meet RTT (18-week) and service targets.
• Liaise with internal teams and external trusts to arrange referrals and investigations.
• Prioritise urgent results and follow up outstanding information as needed.
