The Nursery Deputy Manager will work as part of the Early years team, taking responsibility to ensure that all children, in the nursery receive the highest standard of care and education. They will assist the playgroup Manager in providing a high standard of care and education that meets the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, Children Act and OFSTED inspections and to support the nursery management with all aspects of safeguarding.
The postholder's responsibilities:
Assist the Early Years Provisions Manager in providing effective day to day management and running of the Nursery.
In conjunction with the Early Years Provision Manager, to formulate, operate and evaluate a yearly programme of activities, following the guidelines of the National Curriculum that is suitable to the age range of children.
To assist the Manager in promoting Equal Opportunities throughout the Nursery
To be able to ensure the safety and security of the nursery premises, users and staff in accordance with health and safety legislation and nursery policies and procedures.
To be responsible for providing a high standard of care and education, which meets the requirements of the Statutory Framework of the EYFS, Children Act and OFSTED inspections.
To arrive on time to prepare the day’s activities and set up equipment before the children arrive and to clear up after the children and parents leave.
To offer a full programme of activities throughout the day and recognising that this will need careful planning, involving other staff and trainees in order to develop the potential of each child.
To undertake any other appropriate and reasonable activity relevant to the job as required or directed by the Early Years’ Provisions Manager or person in charge.
To encourage parent/carer involvement in the nursery.
To keep up to date with the latest ideas in the under-fives field through research, courses and publications.
Due to the nature of this post, employment in this role is dependent on an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. In addition, you will also be checked against the Children’s Barred List.
