We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an Asset Management Inspector to support the delivery of our asset work across West Sussex and Hampshire to ensure assets are safe, effective, resilient and that our future investment requirements are fully understood.
You will be expected to manage your own workload and work flexibly according to the demands of the role, with support from colleagues.
Knowing the condition of our assets underpins our risk-based approach to asset management. The information is used to help us plan our work and target our resources.
You will be collecting information on flood risk and environmental assets on site and carrying out a programme of visual inspections to determine asset conditions, identify safety issues, and liaise with colleagues to correct defects. You will also process the asset information in our asset information management system.
This role will include:
- Inspecting assets across West Sussex and Hampshire, to assess/highlight asset condition and safety issues
- Processing and cleansing asset data
- Assisting area and national asset management staff where required.
Incident Response
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be asked to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment, and full training will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
You will join our Asset Performance Team, reporting to the Team Leader. We lead on managing flood risk assets in West Sussex and Hampshire (Solent and South Downs Area).
We are a dynamic, adaptable and inclusive team. You will be required to be flexible and adapt your ways of working according to changing guidance and new evidence.
You will potentially work with several different teams and attend sites across the whole area.
Experience/skills required
The following experiences/skills are essential:
The ability to manage a varied workload
Good numeracy, IT and literacy skills
Full UK Driving licence
The following experiences/skills are beneficial:
Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
Working under own initiative and as part of a team to achieve planned outcomes
Organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office (strong Excel skills are desirable)
Confidence in managing large data sets
