Plymouth City Council is seeking a dynamic Family Group Conference (FGC) Practice Manager to lead and develop our Family Led Decision Making - placing families at the heart of decision-making and driving better outcomes across early help, safeguarding, care prevention and reunification.
The Role
You will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse and impactful portfolio, including:
Family Group Conferencing – empowering families to make safe plans for their children
Family Mediation – supporting families to resolve issues outside of court
Family Network Meetings
You will lead a skilled team, manage complex work, and ensure services operate to the highest national standards while embedding restorative and strengths-based approaches across the partnership landscape.
What You’ll Do
Lead, develop and grow an innovative FGC service.
Drive quality, performance and continuous improvement
Build strong partnerships across Children’s Services and community agencies
Manage risk in complex situations
Oversee budgets and secure funding opportunities
Champion Family Group Conferencing across the system
About You
You’ll bring:
Expertise in FGC, mediation or restorative approaches
Significant experience working with children, families and safeguarding systems
Strong leadership and people management skills
Proven ability to manage complex risk and high-conflict work
Experience in multi-agency partnership working and service development
