Summary
The successful applicant should possess Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, (or equivalent) and should have completed a recognised training programme in clinical and laboratory immunology as per curriculum outlined by JRCPTB or equivalent body. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable. The appointee will work at St James’s University Teaching Hospital, where there will be outpatient responsibilities. There is a commitment to Immunology on call on a 1:4 The post will join Prof Sinisa Savic, Dr Anoop Mistry and Dr Claire Stockdale to provide specialist services for the West, North & large parts of East Yorkshire. Altogether the service serves a population of just over 3 million people. We also provide a supra regional service for patients with systemic autoinflammatory disorders. The service is divided into three key areas; primary immunodeficiency, allergy and autoinflammatory disorders. The successful candidate would join the other 3 substantive consultants in the team. They are expected to work closely with the current multidisciplinary team to sustain current capacity of Allergy & Immunology services with a view to expand in the near future, ensure the smooth flow from diagnosis to treatment & follow up, including developing innovative ways of working to sustain increasing patient load, contribute to the Immunology & Allergy on call rota. Sustain the current capacity of the service for clinical allergy and immunology work, with a view to expansion following further development of nursing clinics and review of patient throughput.
