Summary

Opportunity Overview

The University of Salford is home to one of the UK’s largest centres of teaching and research in journalism and the broader media industries.

We are recruiting a new member of our academic team to join us at MediaCity, to contribute to and help develop our fast-growing undergraduate programme in Sports Journalism.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational lecturer with a proven record of accomplishment in professional sports journalism practice and experience of teaching in higher education.

A track record of developing successful research projects is also essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching on a variety of modules, mainly on our undergraduate programme in Sports Journalism

  • The expertise to support students in using digital technologies and techniques to produce sports media content

  • Working with media companies, sports clubs and other relevant organisations, to help develop opportunities for students

  • Keeping our students up to date with contemporary research, trends and ethical challenges in journalism, the media and sport

  • Contributing to the research agenda of the School, in the context of the UK’s Research Excellence Framework (REF).
