Summary
The Cardiac directorate at Imperial College NHS Trust is recruiting a clinical nurse specialist for TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) and structural heart disease.
The successful candidate will work within a well-established multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality patient centred compassionate care. We are seeking an experienced nurse who would welcome the challenge of working within an expanding service.
The successful candidate’s role will combine both clinical and administrative duties. This can be flexible to include cath lab days, reviewing patients in clinics as well as coordinating and attending the weekly multidisciplinary team.
The majority of referrals to the service will be patients undergoing assessment for TAVI. The post holder will play an active role in coordinating the patient pathway from referral to discharge. They will be adaptable to change and engage in service development as the programme continues to grow.
At Imperial we believe in investing in our staff and training is provided. Further on-going academic and clinical support will be provided by senior staff as well as medical and surgical colleagues who the post holder will work closely with.
• Provide specialist nursing advice Trust wide to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.
• At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
• Attending weekly TAVI clinics and playing an active role in patient assessment, with the ability to interpret results, prioritise workload and take appropriate action when required. Coordinating the outcomes from consultant clinics.
• Ensure provision of a suitable, clean, uncluttered and safe environment for the physical and psychological well-being of staff, patients/clients and their relatives.
• Contribute to the investigation of complaints, accident reports and untoward incidents within the ward/ department in line with Trust Policies and procedures and in conjunction with the Ward or Department Manager and implement recommendations for action.
