Here at Serco, we support the development of RAF’s next generation of aircrew, engineers, and air traffic controllers through our unique contract with the Air Cadet organisation. At RAF Syerston, Serco are contracted with maintaining and managing their fleet of gliders.

Aircraft Supervisor Mechanical
- £32,938, rising to £35,754 post probationThis role will carry out the responsibilities and duties of Support Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities in accordance with Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publication Regulatory Article 4801 and Part 145. We are looking for an individual who can lead and supervise engineering personnel carrying out maintenance on Viking and other contract-related aircraft at RAF Syerston and other locations throughout the UK.
What you’ll need to do the role:
The members of our team come from both a military and civilian background. To meet the qualification and experience requirements of the role, we require our supervisors to meet one or more of the following;
Be appropriately experienced and have completed, as a minimum, MOD Phase 2 technical training
Hold an appropriate category A, B1, B2 or C licence in compliance with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Annex III (Part 66)
Be appropriately experienced and have completed suitable civilian training (civilian contractors only)
The successful post holder must demonstrate having experience to hold Support Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities or civilian equivalent. You should have a minimum of 5-years’ experience in equivalent civilian industry or Armed Forces in a relevant trade group.
Aircraft Senior Supervisor Mechanical
- £35,403, rising to £38,236Based at RAF’s Central Gliding School you’ll lead and manage teams carrying out maintenance on Glider aircraft at the base and around the country. As part of the role, you’ll carry out the duties of Certifying Staff in accordance with Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publication Regulatory Article 4801 and Part 145.
What you’ll need to do the role:
The members of our team come from both a military and civilian background. To meet the qualification and experience requirements of the role, we require our supervisors to meet one or more of the following:
Be appropriately experienced and have completed, as a minimum, MOD Phase 2 technical training
Be appropriately experienced and have completed suitable civilian training (civilian contractors only)
You’ll also need to demonstrate that you have held authority or potential to sign for independent inspection (Military) or duplicate inspections (Civilian). Furthermore, you’ll need to have knowledge of military or civilian aircraft maintenance documentation and publication.

Up to 6% contributory pension scheme.
A flexible working allowance of 8% may be provided, subject to role requirements and successful completion of probation period.
A further 2.5% Trade Allowance may be provided subject to role requirements and successful completion of training and authorisations granted.
