About the RoleWe are looking for a Security Officer to join our team at the Birmingham Passport Office. You will help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and members of the public.

You will support daily security operations, monitor access control, carry out patrols, respond to incidents, and provide excellent customer service while working in a trusted government environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor access control systems

Welcome staff, visitors, and members of the public

Check identification and visitor passes

Carry out regular site patrols

Respond quickly and professionally to incidents

Report issues to the Security Supervisor

Complete accurate incident reports

Maintain daily logs and handover notes

Follow site assignment instructions

Support evacuation and emergency procedures

Use radios and communication equipment correctly

Monitor and manage queues where required

Help maintain a safe and secure environment

Provide clear directions and assistance to visitors

Work closely with colleagues and site management

Challenge unauthorised access where appropriate

Follow escalation procedures

Support safe working practices

Maintain a professional appearance at all times

Deliver high standards of customer service

Protect client property and confidential information

Follow all Mitie and client policies

Contribute to a positive team environment
