Summary

Support International Students to Succeed

The University of Greater Manchester is seeking a motivated and student-focused individual to join the Directorate of Student Services & Experience as an International Student Advisor.

This is a key frontline role providing specialist information, advice and guidance to international students, supporting them to navigate university life and succeed in their studies.

The Role

Reporting to the Team Leader: Student Experience & International Support, you will act as a primary contact for international student enquiries.

You will provide timely, accurate and culturally sensitive advice across a range of areas including student support, financial matters and wellbeing, while supporting students’ transition, integration and overall experience.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will deliver support through face-to-face, digital and group-based methods, including inductions, workshops and events.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, specialist advice and guidance to international students
Act as a first point of contact, triaging and managing student enquiries and casework
Deliver orientation, welcome and induction and ongoing pastoral support
Support pre-arrival communications and onboarding activity
Develop and deliver guidance materials, workshops and digital content
Gather student feedback to enhance the international student experience
Maintain awareness of UKVI requirements and sector developments
About You

You will be a confident and approachable professional with a strong commitment to supporting international students.

You will demonstrate:

Experience in a busy, customer-facing environment, ideally within Higher Education
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly and sensitively
Understanding of the needs of international students
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
Strong administrative and organisational skills
A proactive and collaborative approach
Knowledge of UKVI processes or international student support is desirable.
