We are a specialist industrial cleaning business delivering high-quality cleaning and maintenance solutions to commercial, industrial, and corporate clients across the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Business Development Manager to help drive new business opportunities and expand our client portfolio.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive sales professional who enjoys identifying opportunities, building relationships, and managing the full sales process from initial contact through to contract award and project completion.
The RoleThe Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in generating new business and developing long-term client relationships across a variety of sectors. While the business receives inbound enquiries through its website, this role will primarily focus on proactive business development and winning new commercial contracts.
You will work closely with the Director and Account Manager, taking ownership of lead generation, client meetings, site surveys, tender submissions, quotation preparation, negotiations, and contract wins.
The role is hybrid, with a combination of home working, office-based work in Newmarket, and regular travel throughout the UK for client meetings and site visits.
Key Responsibilities• Identify, generate, and convert new business opportunities across commercial and industrial sectors
• Develop relationships with contractors, Facilities Management companies, industrial clients, and commercial stakeholders
• Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation through negotiation and contract award
• Attend client meetings, site surveys, and project review meetings across the UK
• Prepare competitive quotations, costings, and proposals
• Respond to formal tender opportunities and support bid submissions
• Build and maintain relationships with both SMEs and large corporate organisations
• Support project delivery by monitoring project costs against quoted budgets
• Assist with client relationship management and account development
• Work collaboratively with the existing Account Manager to maximise opportunities from both warm and cold leads
• Maintain accurate records using internal systems and workflow management software
• Provide support to site managers and operational teams where required
• Potentially manage and mentor an Account Manager as the business grows
• Represent the business professionally at all times and act as a key ambassador for the brand
Essential
• Proven experience in a Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, or similar client-facing role
• Strong track record of winning new business and developing commercial relationships
• Experience managing the complete sales process from lead generation through to closing deals
• Ability to prepare quotations, pricing proposals, and commercial agreements
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Commercially minded with strong financial awareness
• Ability to work independently and generate opportunities proactively
• Comfortable travelling throughout the UK for meetings and site visits
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Teams
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience within industrial cleaning, specialist cleaning, facilities management, construction, maintenance, or related service-led sectors
• Experience preparing and responding to tender submissions
• Understanding project costs, budgets, and contract profitability
• Experience using CRM or workflow management systems
• Existing industry contacts and established client relationships
• Experience managing or mentoring team members
