Summary
I am a wheelchair user with partial paralysis from a spinal cord injury, resulting in bad mobility and bad hands (tetraplegic). I am a biologist and also run a small local charity, and I love going out and about as much as my disability allows.
I am 65 years old and have lived in several different parts of the world (the US, Europe and East Africa).
I need a PA who is ready to help me get out of the house and to be my hands for all the things that need to be done in life.
I try to stay as active as possible but need support to make it all happen.
I am looking for a PA who will be ready to help me get out into the community, to go to the gym, parks, events, museums, attend meetings, get to social events, help with shopping. I would also like some help around the home including tidying, cooking or gardening.
My wheelchair is lightweight, but I can’t push it independently and I need support from someone who can take it in and out of the house, on to public transport and possibly in the car.
Ideally a PA would be:
- Able to help me down the stairs and push me in my wheelchair
- Active and ready to take on challenges of going out and about
- Relatively local to me so their commute to work is predictable
- Happy to do a wide range of things, sometimes fun, sometimes tedious
- Flexible in working hours, by mutual negotiation
- Good humoured and interested in the world
