Summary
| THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL Own and grow the This Is Dornoch brand across web, social and beyond — driving visitors to the town, championing its businesses, and securing the funding that makes it all possible. |
What you’ll be doing
✓ Own the ‘This Is Dornoch’ website — keep it fresh, SEO-friendly and packed with content that makes visitors want to book their trip.
✓ Run social media for the town and the BID — create standout photo and video content, grow our audiences, and keep the conversation going.
✓ Produce our fortnightly members’ newsletter via Mailchimp — well-crafted, well-targeted comms that keep BID businesses informed and engaged.
✓ Support Dornoch’s events and festivals — from annual celebrations to BID workshops, help plan, promote, and capture the buzz.
✓ Build relationships with digital creators and influencers to put Dornoch on more radars — and keep it there.
✓ Work with VisitScotland, Venture North and other partners to amplify the Dornoch area as a must-visit destination.
✓ Engage directly with BID member businesses, keeping their listings accurate and their enthusiasm for the BID high.
✓ Develop additional revenue streams, including voluntary membership sales and paid listings on the ‘This Is Dornoch’ website.
| A KEY PART OF THIS ROLE: GRANT FUNDING Securing grant funding and sponsorship is a priority responsibility in this role — not an afterthought. You’ll be expected to proactively identify and apply for funding from bodies such as Highland Council, Creative Scotland, EventScotland, BID Scotland and other trusts and foundations — supporting events, campaigns and projects that benefit Dornoch’s businesses and visitors. Experience writing successful grant applications is highly desirable. If this is an area where you’re still developing, please be upfront about that in your application — we’re happy to discuss support. |
