Summary
Learning Support Assistants (x4) - Full Time | South Gloucestershire | September 2026 Start Weekly Salary: £500 - £600 Looking for a role where you can genuinely change someone's future?
We're working in partnership with a well-respected Further Education setting in South Gloucestershire that is looking to recruit several full-time Learning Support Assistants for the entire 2026/27 academic year.
These opportunities are ideal for graduates who want to build a career in education, psychology, additional learning needs, speech and language, social work, youth work, or related professions.
More importantly, they're looking for people with the right attitude. Individuals who are patient, resilient, proactive, and genuinely passionate about helping young people succeed.
This isn't simply a support role. It's an opportunity to become a key part of a learner's journey and help them overcome barriers that may have previously prevented them from reaching their potential.
What the role will feel like day-to-day
You'll be supporting young people aged 16+ who require additional support to fully access their education and college experience.
Some learners may have Autism (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, physical disabilities, mental health needs, or other additional learning needs.
No two days are the same.
One moment you might be helping a learner organise their workload and stay focused in class. The next, you could be building confidence, supporting independence, or helping a learner navigate challenges that arise throughout the day.
Your role could involve:
- Providing one-to-one support to learners
- Supporting learners within classroom environments
- Encouraging independence and self-confidence
- Assisting learners to access coursework and practical sessions
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Supporting learners with emotional regulation and wellbeing
- Working alongside tutors and support staff to help learners achieve their goals
The most successful Learning Support Assistants understand that progress isn't always measured by grades. Sometimes it's helping a learner attend a session, build confidence, make a friend, or achieve something they never thought possible.
Who tends to thrive in these roles?
We're particularly keen to hear from:
- Psychology Graduates
- Education Graduates
- Criminology Graduates
- Sociology Graduates
- Sports Graduates
- Health & Social Care Graduates
- Youth Workers
- Support Workers
- Coaches and Mentors
You don't need years of experience.
What matters most is your ability to connect with people, stay calm under pressure, and genuinely care about helping others succeed.
The strongest candidates are often those who:
- Want a career that has purpose
- Are naturally empathetic and patient
- Communicate confidently and professionally
- Are resilient and solution-focused
- Take initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Want to make a meaningful impact every day
Why graduates love these opportunities
This role provides exceptional experience for anyone considering careers in:
- Teaching
- Educational Psychology
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Social Work
- Youth Justice
- Mental Health Services
- Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Support
You'll gain valuable hands-on experience supporting learners with a wide range of needs while working alongside experienced education professionals.
Many people use this experience as a stepping stone into postgraduate study, teacher training, or specialist support roles.
