Summary
Advert for Teaching Assistant Level 3 (Grade 5 pro rata): 19.5 hours per week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday term time only
Mon and Tuesday 8.30am – 3:30pm
Wednesday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Temporary 1 year in first instance
Gross Salary pro rota depending on any LA continuous service (£13,007 - £14,429.50) This will increase following national pay award
We are seeking a passionate, nurturing and skilled Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to high-quality EYFS provision and supporting every child to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
You will work closely with class teachers to create a stimulating, language-rich environment where children feel safe, curious and motivated to learn. This role requires a strong understanding of child development, EYFS pedagogy, effective purposeful continuous provision, and observational assessment.
Key Responsibilities
· Support the delivery of an engaging, language rich EYFS curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
· Facilitate child-initiated learning through high-quality interactions, questioning and modelling
· Observe, assess and record children’s progress, contributing to planning next steps in learning
· Support the development of communication, language, and social skills through purposeful play and structured activities
· Help maintain an enabling environment (indoor and outdoor) that promotes exploration, creativity and independence
· Provide tailored support for individuals and small groups, including children with SEND or additional needs
· Promote children’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour for learning, and self-regulation
· Work collaboratively with teachers, external professionals and parents/carers to support each child’s development
· Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment in line with safeguarding procedures
What We’re Looking For
• A Level 3 childcare or teaching assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience working within an EYFS setting
• Strong understanding of early childhood development and pedagogy
• Ability to support learning through play, curiosity and exploration
• Knowledge of observation and assessment practices
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and supporting every child to succeed
· Experience supporting children with SEND
· Training in phonics, early communication, or speech and language support
· Knowledge of continuous provision and enabling environments
