Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher to support a 13-year-old young person with an Education, Health and Care Plan who has recently relocated to the Hull (HU9) area and is finding the transition to a new school environment challenging.
The young person is currently working at approximately Year 2 academic levels and requires a highly nurturing, trauma-informed approach with a strong understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
Key information about the learner includes:

  • Presents as hyper-vigilant and is continually monitoring their environment, which can lead to heightened anxiety throughout the day.
  • Anxiety can impact their ability to respond appropriately, follow instructions, think logically, problem-solve and engage consistently in learning activities.
  • Due to impulsivity, their movements can sometimes be erratic and they may appear clumsy. they are physically strong and energetic and has unintentionally hurt peers in the past.
  • When feeling insecure or dysregulated, they may become highly physical, including crawling or climbing over furniture and people.
  • Displays significant sensory-seeking behaviours, including:
    • Moving frequently in their seat.
    • Getting up and walking around.
    • Chewing or mouthing objects.
    • Licking objects.
    • High levels of activity and excitement.
  • Experiences sleep difficulties, which can affect her presentation, concentration and emotional regulation during the school day.
The successful teacher will be patient, flexible and confident in adapting learning to meet a wide range of needs. Experience of supporting learners with SEMH needs, sensory processing differences, attachment-related needs and complex EHCP provision would be highly beneficial.
Role Details
  • Location: Hull, HU9
  • Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week

  • Rate: £210-£260 per day, dependent upon experience, qualifications and responsibilities
