Summary

the successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to help pupils achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning plans and differentiated activities.
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence and confidence.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, external professionals, and families.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Desirable Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex needs.
  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and inclusive learning practices.
  • Experience using visual supports, Makaton, or alternative communication methods.
