Summary

This role involves understanding lymphoedema, including its causes, development, signs, symptoms, and current management practices, ensuring that treatment is tailored to the patient's needs. You will manage your own caseload, conductingLymphoedema assessments and providing high-quality, patient-centred care, including skin care advice, simple lymphatic drainage (SLD), compression bandaging, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), and fitting compression garments. You will work closely with patients to develop personalised care plans in accordance with agreed treatment protocols, regularly reassessing and evaluating care and treatment responsive to progress. Collaboration with the wider team will ensure continuity of care and that patient needs are met. As you gain experience, you may take on more specialist cases under supervision, always working within the established policies and standards to maintain a consistent and high standard of service provision. Flexibility to meet service needs and participation in research, audits, and service awareness campaigns will be key to this role. Ongoing professional development, including skills training, professional updates, and maintaining your professional registration, will be essential. You will also be expected to assist in training and supporting new staff, volunteers, and visitors, while staying up to date with advances in palliative care and lymphoedema management. Additionally, you will help ensure the prevention and control of infection, prioritise health and safety, and contribute to the evaluation of the lymphoedema service through the collection of statistical information.
