An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Deputy Head Nurse to join a thriving veterinary team in Liverpool. This position is ideal for a passionate Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive, progressive, and clinically driven environment.
Working closely with the Head Nurse, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the leadership and development of the nursing team while helping to drive clinical excellence, operational efficiency, governance, and continuous improvement across the practice.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with excellent communication skills, strong clinical knowledge, and a genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care and customer service. They will thrive in a varied and rewarding caseload and be keen to contribute to the ongoing success of a growing veterinary practice.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Head Nurse in the day-to-day management and leadership of the nursing team.
• Assist in maintaining high clinical standards, governance, and patient care.
• Promote efficiency and effectiveness across all clinical activities within the surgery.
• Mentor and support colleagues, encouraging professional development and best practice.
• Deliver exceptional nursing care across consultations, inpatient care, and surgical duties.
• Help foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive team culture.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and clinical excellence.
Working Hours & Flexibility
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.
The nursing team typically works a 4-day week, supporting a healthy work-life balance. Shifts are 9 hours long and include a varied mix of consulting, inpatient, and surgical responsibilities throughout the week.
The role includes:
• 1 in 4 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday)
• Duty nights on a rotational basis
