Summary
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the provisions of the above technical services within the hospital. Plan, design and construct custom made removable prosthetic appliances using semi adjustable articulators. Evaluate the quality of the dental prescription and items supplied from the clinical areas are of sufficient quality to proceed with construction of appliance. Plan, coordinate and prioritise daily personal workload to meet laboratory deadlines and to meet service requirements, bringing any areas of concern to the attention of the laboratory manager. Provide emergency service and repairs for patients Demonstrate/discuss techniques with undergraduates, clinicians, dental nurses and visitors when required. Provide advice, when asked, on selection of materials and the correct and safe use of equipment within the laboratory Responsible for producing a high quality standard of work, as stated in the Laboratory Operational Guideline Procedures. Use the laboratory dedicated computer system to book finished appliances and deal with enquiries when required. Utilise various specialised pieces of machinery within the laboratory including compressed gases, ultraviolet lights, grit blasting, heating tanks and pressure forming equipment. Undertaking more complex work involving implant restorations and other highly complex work under supervision and further training. It will be necessary for the post holder to undertake any other duties commensurate with the post, within their technical skills and in agreement with the Laboratory Manager.
