Summary
ANZUK Education is working with an SEN School in Chatham seeking to appoint a resilient and dedicated Cover Supervisor with a specialism in science to join a supportive educational setting working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The school based in Chatham are seeking a confident professional who can build positive relationships, maintain high expectations, and create a calm, structured learning environment where students feel supported to succeed. While resources and lesson materials will be available, the role may also require some preparation and adaptation to meet the needs of learners effectively.

About the role:
This role is ideally suited to someone with previous experience working within SEMH provisions or alternative education settings, who understands the importance of consistency, patience, and resilience in supporting young people with additional behavioural and emotional needs. A background or strong interest in Science would be highly advantageous, enabling you to confidently support learning across the subject area.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervising whole classes and delivering engaging learning activities across a range of subjects, with a particular focus on Science
Using available resources and adapting or preparing materials where necessary to support effective learning outcomes
Creating and maintaining a calm, positive, and productive classroom environment
Supporting students with SEMH needs through consistent behaviour management, patience, and strong relationship-building skills
Encouraging student participation, confidence, engagement, and academic progress
Providing clear feedback to teaching staff regarding student engagement, behaviour, and progress
Supporting the wider school community through classroom support, pastoral responsibilities, and other duties as required
Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that enables students to thrive both academically and emotionally
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with young people with SEMH needs
Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a calm approach under pressure
Possess excellent communication and behaviour management skills
Hold a degree qualification or higher in Science, or possess strong Science subject knowledge with the ability to confidently support and deliver learning across the subject area
Be passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people
