As a Functional Assessor - Clinical Trainer, youll play a vital role in shaping the next generation of clinical professionals delivering Work Capability Assessments (WCA). Youll facilitate high‑quality training through blended delivery-virtual, online, and in‑person-while remaining connected to frontline practice through periodic assessments.

What you'll do;

  • Deliver engaging training to new clinicians, grounded in Evidence‑Based Medicine (EBM).
  • Facilitate learning across multiple platforms-including virtual classrooms and face‑to‑face delivery.
  • Undertake Functional Assessments as required to ensure alignment between training and real-world practice.
  • Support new Health Professionals to meet training outcomes, identifying early support requirements.
  • Use reflective practice models to champion continuous improvement across training content and methodology.
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to design, review, and enhance training materials.
  • Maintain high-quality, timely documentation to support feedback and development.
  • Keep up to date with welfare and policy developments.
  • Provide expert clinical insight for Training Needs Analysis and wider service improvements.
  • Offer specialist input on clinical changes, including testing and impact assessments.
  • Support wider clinical operations to ensure safe, effective, and compliant service delivery.

Essential Criteria;

  • Current DWP Approval as a WCA Functional Assessor.
  • Current HCPC or NMC registration with no restrictions.
  • Strong record of Continual Professional Development (CPD) and revalidation.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage your time, meet deadlines, and work effectively within a wider team.
  • Able to interpret high‑level requirements and translate them into clear, practical clinical guidance.
  • Confident communicator skilled at engaging multi-disciplinary professionals and stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply your clinical expertise to support and develop others.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to work across digital platforms.
  • Reliable, flexible, and detail‑focused.

Desirable;

  • Experience delivering or facilitating training in an adult learning environment.
  • Knowledge of learning styles and instructional models.
  • Experience creating training content.
  • A qualification in education or learning and development.
